Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Schuler has been Professor of Glass and Facade Construction at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Munich University of Applied Sciences since 2011. He is head of the Lightweight Construction/ Facade/ Glass Construction Department of the Laboratory for Steel and Lightweight Metal Construction and the Bonding Competence Center.

From 1991 to 1996 he worked in the field of structural design and special civil engineering at HochTief Consult Essen at various civil engineering sites and as project manager at the office for civil engineering in Karlsruhe. This was followed by a move to the associated institute, Labor für Stahl- und Leichtmetallbau GmbH of the Munich University of Applied Sciences. After founding the materials testing laboratory, Prof. Schuler was deputy head of the materials research department between 2001 and 2003.

Christian Schuler completed his studies in civil engineering at the Technical University Fridericiana in Karlsruhe. He wrote his subsequent dissertation on "Influence of the material behavior of PVB on the load-bearing behavior of laminated safety glass as a function of temperature and load" at the Technical University of Munich (2003).
